WooCommerce Zapier customers are saving time every day by automating their eCommerce processes, however, they also need to ensure their sites are as secure as possible.
We’ve invested a lot of time in ensuring our customers can use well-known security solutions in the WordPress ecosystem while making full use of WooCommerce Zapier’s eCommerce automation features.
Many of our customers are using popular WordPress Security solutions (such as Wordfence Security, iThemes Security, Jetpack Protect, Sucuri Security), however, using both together has sometimes meant that security trade-offs had to be made.
WordPress 5.6’s introduction of Application Passwords in late 2020 was a milestone moment. We knew it was going to make things much easier for our customers once the security solutions had been evolved to incorporate application password support.
We have been performing detailed testing behind the scenes, and today we are proud to introduce some changes to our WooCommerce app on Zapier.com, as well as changes to our WooCommerce Zapier documentation.
The changes are designed to encourage the use of WordPress Application Passwords when authenticating your WooCommerce store with Zapier.com and to help ensure our customers can continue using WordPress’ popular security plugins and solutions.
WooCommerce App Improvements on Zapier.com
Today we have introduced improvements to the authentication dialogue box. We now encourage our users to use an application password when authenticating:
This allows our customers (for example) to continue using two-factor authentication in WordPress, whilst also making the most of WooCommerce Zapier.
All existing users already have access to these changes without needing to lift a finger. Enjoy!
