WooCommerce Zapier 2.4: Seventeen New Trigger Rules!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Today we are excited to announce some fantastic improvements to the WooCommerce Zapier plugin.

Let’s dive in with the details…

17 New Trigger Rules

Trigger Rules are used to define exactly when your WooCommerce data should be sent to Zapier.

We’ve added a whopping seventeen new Trigger Rules, which give users fine-grained control over exactly when Order, Subscription or Booking data is sent to Zapier.

New Order Trigger Rules

The heart of a WooCommerce store is its order fulfilment and processing, and WooCommerce’s statuses can be complicated to understand.

To help users visualise this, we’ve created a visual representation of the typical and common order status transitions:

The above diagram also lists (in green) the relevant WooCommerce Zapier trigger rules that trigger during each of the order status transitions.

This release adds the following new Order trigger rules:

  • Order status changed to Cancelled
  • Order status changed to Completed
  • Order status changed to Failed
  • Order status changed to On hold
  • Order status changed to Processing
  • Order status changed to Refunded

Please see our updated Order status changed Trigger Rule documentation for more details.

New Subscription Trigger Rules

Similarly, Subscription-based WooCommerce sites typically need to automate based on the most common Subscription status changes, so we have added the following new Subscription trigger rules:

  • Subscription status changed to Active
  • Subscription status changed to Cancelled
  • Subscription status changed to Expired
  • Subscription status changed to On hold
  • Subscription status changed to Pending Cancellation

Please see our updated Subscription status changed Trigger Rule documentation for more details.

New Booking Trigger Rules

WooCommerce Bookings also need to automate processes based on the most common Booking status changes, so we’ve added the following new Booking trigger rules:

  • Booking status changed to Cancelled
  • Booking status changed to Complete
  • Booking status changed to Confirmed
  • Booking status changed to In Cart
  • Booking status changed to Paid
  • Booking status changed to Pending Confirmation

Please see our updated Booking status changed Trigger Rule documentation for more details.

Renamed Trigger Rules

If you are currently using the Order status changed trigger rule, the Subscription status changed trigger rule, or the Booking status changed trigger rule, you should know that we have renamed those trigger rules to more clearly describe when they trigger:

  • Renamed the Order status changed trigger rule to Order status changed (any status).
  • Renamed the Subscription status changed trigger rule to Subscription status changed (any status).
  • Renamed the Booking status changed trigger rule to Booking status changed (any status).

If using one of these 3 trigger rules, you are probably also using a Filter step in your Zap to ensure it automates only on specific status changes. If so, we have some good news for you so please read on…

Simplify Your Zaps

These 17 new trigger rules also mean that many users will be able to simplify their existing Zaps.

If you currently have a multi-step Zap with a Filter step based on an Order, Subscription or Booking status value, then you can likely switch to one of the new 17 trigger rules and remove the Filter step from your Zap.

Doing so will make your Zaps simpler and more efficient, and it may also mean that you can downgrade to a free Zapier plan because you may no longer need to use the multi-step Zaps (which is a paid Zapier feature).

In Summary

We hope you enjoy this new functionality.

The full list of changes in this release can also be found in our WooCommerce Zapier 2.4.0 release notes.
